Digital Video Recorder (DVR) is a necessity in security surveillance. The images captured by the CCTV needs to be recorded somewhere. It can be viewed from the source it is recorded into. A separate screen would be required to do so! This device is essential in completing the security system. No system is complete without this device. It is mandatory for a CCTV camera to have this system as well. No wonder, the vendors for CCTV have this system without fail!
There are many types of DVR available in the market. Video compression is the main criteria used to classify them. MPEG4, H.264, and MJPEG are the three main technologies used in DVRs. H.264 Compression DVMR, out of them all, is the most reliable. It is an advanced version of MPEG-4 and may also be called MPEG-4 Part 10 or AVC (Advanced Video Coding). It is advantageous over other formats. It contains inter picture prediction features allowing up to 32 picture references.
